Southland Welsh Show 2017

Dawn Elliot - Wednesday, December 06, 2017

We made the long trip south to Gore for the 2017 Southland Welsh Show with Skibbereen Serenity and her colt foal Hollybank Sunshine (Imperial Messiah). Little Hollybank Sunshine was making his showing debut and had a cracker of a day, winning Champion Section B Youngstock and then being awarded Runner-Up Supreme Purebred Exhibit! His mum Skibbereen Serenity completed the double act with Champion Section B Adult.

A big thank you to the Southland Welsh Pony & Cob Group for putting on a great show and really turning on the weather for us.

Hollybank Stud's Nawarrah Park Lady's Man had a great South Island Premier Show, even though he wasn't there himself. Sianwood Stud Visit July 2017

Dawn Elliot - Thursday, July 27, 2017

While I was in Wales I had the pleasure of visiting the James family at Sianwood Stud, Llandovery. I was made very welcome and saw some beautiful welsh ponies, it was great to then be able to watch some of these ponies competing with success at the Royal Welsh Show.

Royal Welsh Show 2017

Dawn Elliot - Wednesday, July 26, 2017

While holidaying in the UK in July 2017, I had the fantastic opportunity to travel down to Builth Wells in Wales to attend the Royal Welsh Show. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. I was lucky enough to find myself staying in the same little pub in Llangadog as Emily Ensor (also from NZ) and together we had four full on days at the show. My two favourites from the show were yearling Section B filly Waxwing Glamour and yearling Section B colt Walseker Colrado (pictured).

NZWPCS AGM Blenheim 2017

Dawn Elliot - Sunday, June 11, 2017

In June 2017 we headed off on a roadie to Blenheim for the weekend to attend the NZ Welsh Pony & Cob Society AGM. My 3 year term on Council was up and I was re-elected for another 3 year term.

At the end of year prize giving Nawarrah Park Lady's Man again won the Section B Sires Ratings Award for the fifth year in succession, although this year he did have to share the honours with Bamborough Ambassador. Completing a father/daughter double, Skibbereen Serenity won the Punga Trophy for the most points in Inhand showing, a trophy that Lady's Man has won himself three times.
